Ramos was born in New York in 1967, but he lived in Puerto Rico (P.R.) for 30 years. His career started in college during the late 1980's where several galleries and collective art shows featured his mixed media. After his bachelor's degree in arts (1990) he continued participating in collective expositions, not only in Puerto Rico, but also in the USA, England, France and Europe.* His first solo show "De Pared de Colgantes" was held in 1993 at Domus Gallery in San Juan, PR. with great reviews. The prestigious Biennial of Latin American & the Caribbean Engravings in San Juan, PR accepted his prints in 1993 and 1996.
During the late 90's Moises has also received numerous awards for his mixed media, engravings and black & white photography during his career. Since 1993, he has been working as an art educator and was selected Teacher of the year several times in Puerto Rico (1999, 2001, and 2002). In 2002, Ramos adopted Jacksonville, Florida as his new home. There he continued working as an artist and an educator. With a new city come new challenges and artistic ideas for Moisés, whose artwork has been featured in several collective shows locally and on online competitions. As an educator, his career is very fulfilling. In 2009 Ramos was the Teacher of the Year at his school. He was also the recipient of the 2009 Memphis Wood Excellence in Teaching Award for his work as an art educator not only with his students, but with the community.
In 2010 he received the prestigious Art Educator of the Year Award from the Cultural Council of Jacksonville for his volunteer work and community outreach projects with refugee students. His first solo show in Jacksonville "Sins, Landscapes and Medallions" was held at the Grune Family Gallery at Players by the Sea in 2010.
Mr. Ramos has also received several educational grants to help his students achieve their full artistic potential. He understands that to educate is more than teaching a subject matter; it is empowering a child to be a well-rounded human being. His beliefs are reflected in his students daily, by his aim to create masterpieces out of every child he encounters.
